The string classes and the woodwind classes serve as training' groups for begin- ners who wish to join the orchestra. Some of the A Band members also double in the Howe orchestra, principally in the brass and woodwind sections. Other orches- tra members have received their basic training on the violas, cellos, and string bass, in the string class taught by Mr. Louis McEnderfer. Woodwind players likewise re- ceive their initial training in the woodwind Class. Uniformed in brown and gold the orches- tra presented its annual concert in December. They also played at open house, participated in a state contest on April 3, and played for Howe's May Music Festival. Mr. McEnder- fer is the director.
