This all took place during Howeis round of 'cQuiz Em On the Airf, But our right answers didnit come as fast as Lawrence Central's. and we were a few points short in the final round. ...ik Santa got plenty of Christ- mas lists this year! Everyone at the XVinter XVonderland Dance seemed to have a special item he wanted Santa to drop in his stocking. Here Carol Gainey and Ted Bechtel put on their looks of innocence and confide in good ole St. Nick. Iuniors make history. Yes. for the first time in the Howes history the juniors held a proin. The idea started in the fall and kept getting bigger and bigger until. what do you know? There we were, on May 10. 1952, dancing and having a lot of fun at our first Junior Prom.

...uma awe... Thirteen certainly proved to be a lucky number for the jun- iors this year. Carol Pryor, Golden Girl, and jerry Lowe, Brown Boy. both juniors, pre- sided at the 13th annual Brown and Cold Dance. sponsored by the HILLTOPPER. The jinx of number 153 was chased away by a huge gilded horseshoe hang- ing from the center of the gym. During intermission the eight candidates, chosen by the jun' iors and seniors, were presented and the winners were an- nounced. Later in the program they led the colorful grand march. XVorking up steamln Yes, sirl Thatis our cheerleaders. These are the energy- packed kids who spend lots of time practicing and then at every game exert all their vigor and vim leading us in high-spirited yells. Starting the favorite Loc-oinotiyen are Morris Cobb, Carol Carmichael, Ed Stevens, Sara Johnson, Ted Bechtel, and Arlene Hinkle. we 'ae Along with class jewelry, class colors, and a brand new homeroom in the cafeteria, comes a committee job for each senior, That means get- ting together after school to combine ideas for parties, or more seriously, to revise the class 'No comes Party, boys allowed. Thats the ruling which every year before the All-Girl Christmas when the feminine half of Howe gets to- constitution. But, of course, as you see here, getlier and really has a big time singing carols seniors have fun, too, even while they work. and playing games. i I N ,,. ,ef Page H1 irteen
