HERE'S HOW the Nationalists and Federalists conducted their annual battle for top political offices. On election day, the Federalists won a sweeping victory. Federalist candidate Dick Miller became Governor of Howe State by defeating the Nationalist's candidate Ralph Johnson. At top left Ralph congratulates Gov- ernor Miller . Rival party members wish each other luck on Election Day at the polls in the picture at top right. An unusual scene in any convention, but it's only the beginning. All is quiet for now but wait until later. Then the speeches will begin. As is the custom, the rules, platform, and cre- dentials committees make their reports to the convention. At the lower left the rules com- mittee report is being given. During the confusion of the convention, the tabulators keep a record of the votes cast. The picture at the lower right illustrates the conven- tion in full swing. Jo Ann Meyer was crowned Hi-Y Sweetheart on February 9 at the Sweetheart dance. She is pictured above with her court. From left to right they are Norma Midtbruget, Nancie North- ern, Hi-Y Sweetheart Jo Ann, Janet Parker, and Joann Guidone l TOP-In l95l the D. A. R. Award for Citizen- ship went to Janet Callon.
