She looked mighty smooth surrounded by Eva Ruth Ham, Maxine Dietz, Martha Payne, and Betty Lou Roth, the members of her court. We were really proud of Marjorie Harvey and loe Weaver, the winners of the American Legion citizenship awards which are presented annually at the pageant. During the Parade of Achievement l carried a sign labeled LI-XTlN. Going up the steps, l was so interested in the demonstrations on the front lawn that l tripped and tell. Mother, who had come to watch, called out, Herbie, are you hurt? Boy, was l embarassed! C? PR- .fi ll-t ll

N x t L Lt tt ,f iv Elie! Almost any old article you could dig up could be contributed to some sort of a salvage drive. Some of my friends on the TQWER and HILLTOPPER staffs are in the top picture salvaging metal from old engravings. l helped in this drive and Helen pushed the glamour salvage for old lipsticks, compacts, and hose. Mom had some old stockings which l contributed. Time was that if l'd pulled old stockings out of my pockets in the hall, the fellows would have called me Powder Puff Howe for weeksfbut times have changed .... Mr. Wade Fuller is the man to see about employment. Cf course since l am eighteen l have a pretty fair idea of what my future is to be. However, he found Helen a dandy job. 10 TOP'-Clyde Iohnson, Elf len Kroll, Bob Woerner, Bob Heed, and Marjorie Harvey, LOWER LEFT- - lane Clark and Betty Wil- lits. Helen looked sharp as a tack, but when Golden Girl Marjorie Harvey walked on the stage-well-. Budely interrupting rny reverie, Helen whispered, After all, Herbie, Bill Hanafee is Brown Boy, not you. . . . l thought about running for governor in our mock election this fall, but l decided to let Leroy Owen, Federalist, and Lil loe Pesut, Nationalist, fight it out. P. S. Leroy won ,... We fellows in the Hi-Y Club sponsored our first Heart Hop this year with a sweetheart 'n' everything. We picked Marjorie Harvey, Mary Beth Underwood, Kitty Lewis, Martha Payne, and Helen Thompson, as candidates, and Mary Beth was chosen. UPPER RIGHT-Marjorie Harvey and Bill Hanafee.
