About the Book . . . ls there any better way to guide man's prog- ress amid the creation, to define the very act which allows him to assess and understand the universe, in which he is not a disconnected frag- ment but the complete image of the whole? By coloring and engraving man makes the creation visible, indicating both his identity with the cosmos and his distinctness from it. This act offcoloring and engraving is inseperable from the very act of being conscious. Therefore, what better ,symbol is there than the stained- glass window if one wants to get as close as pos- sible tothe human work as itCe34pa'ndsEcoYding to the decree of the Revelation. By stained glass, in terms of art we mean a window filling composed of an ensemble of small glass plates, coloured or otherwise inter- connected as in a mosaic, and painted to form an image. lt has been said that people are much like stained glass windows.
