RUTH XYOODRLTIF Ruthie SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY The year is 1961, and the graduating class of ten years ago is presenting a circus in the gymnasium of the brand new Thomas A. Edison High School. As we approach the entrance, we see Mary Gilbert and Barbara Richardson selling tickets by the hundreds. As we take our seats the circus band plays a lovely march written by Doris Fassett, who is now famous for her popular tunes. In the band we see our old friends john Feshoh, Clair johnson, Donald Narde, Dean W'hcet and John NVoodruff. As we look around us we see many of our schoolmates. Sitting together on our left are the employees of lilmira's most exclusive VVomen's shop. There are llertha XVeakland, general manager, Sonia liwsuk, the buyer, lileanor Opryska, the dress designerg lflsie Raupers, head seamstressg ,Ioy Spirawk, a model, lrene lluges, receptionistg and .loyce Spirawk, secretary and bookkeeper. XVith them is Anne liarcus, who is in charge of planning pajama parties for the employees of the shoppe. As we regard the audience more closely, we see throughout the audience many others who have made names for themselves in 1nany fields. There is Edward Dlanes, who not only drives a new and different Cadillac to work every day, but who has just astounded the world by disproving liinstein's theory of relativity. Blanche liixby is crowding Milton Herle out of television with her comedies. Stanley -lankowski is America's most famous harmonica player. W'ell, look who's here! Beverly Funforck and june Albright have each brought their 12 children. They seem to have believed that children are cheaper by the dozen. VVith them is Sylvia Hlose, who is now buyer for Gorton's and llelphine Purhenn, an example of the voice with a smile for the Bell Telephone Company. Seated behind them are people who have made the Heights a better place as a result of their business enterprises. W'e see Ray Audas, owner of the pool room, Harriett Neal, manager of Hee Q Dick'sg Faye Packard, head librariang and Danny Pasielski, who has taken over his father's bakery. On our left we notice Patricia Tarby, who is a dental hygienistg and Carol Pettit, who now runs a store which lends typing paper to those who forget their own. After inquiry as to others, we learn that Marilyn I-Iuff and Lois Hugg are taking turns as pianists for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Margaret lluddle has joined the navy in order to see the world and Ray Schiefen is still peeling spuds for the army. Hut now the show begins as Ringmaster Harry Clfuzzyj lillman introduces the first act. Presentinrglack Pavne, ohn Kerbein, l'aul Ii'orck and Ral wh is . , . SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY thrilling stunts on the trampoline. Clifford Proper demonstrates how not to throw a basketball. Tex llrusso entertains with his western band, Then, of all things, in comes .Dale Rumsmoke and his magic tricks. Marjorie Fuller, his assistant is wearing a sequin gown. The show is over, and we go down for some refreshments. From expert taffy-puller Pat Middaugh, we buy a box of assorted flavors. Then we purchase some candy from Ruth XVoodruff, and a hot dog from Marian Spraker. Suddenly we hear screams and see Harbara Shaut carried to the lirst-aid room where nurses Hetty Pleesa and .Ioyce Little will have to bandage her arm where she was bitten by one of Norma Gearhart's trained monkeys. After buying another hot dog, we proceed to the side show where llarley Forrest is barking for all he is worth. What a surprise to see little Robert Rundle, tlag-pole sitter, lilva Danque, tattooed lady. While watching the show, we see Dean Foster, who tells us that at last he has found a part-time job-waten ing elephants. As the side show continues, we are entertained by Joyce Kiser, who is a rubber lady, strongman, Donald Hurd, and the fat lady, who is really Clara Haight. lluddy Clemons has a nice job-he's the human pin cushion. Now the show is over, and much to our sorrow we must leave T. A. li. once more. Saying fond farewells are the members of the Kozemko, Misnick, 8: lills Corporation, makers of back scratchers for elephants and Marion Klebert and Beverly Herrington whose lovely No Smoking signs we have admired. Alas, we are again outside the doors of T. A. li. and have seen all of our old friends for the last time for several years. Perhaps in the near future we can have another reunion with our old friends from our Alma Mater, HJR Ol l lt'liRS LAST WILL HND TESTAMENT OF THE CLASS OF l95l june .-Xlbright-wills to Marilyn Baldwin her half ol the throne in 1953. Sophomore Class History The activities of the Sophomore Class this year have been few, but the few that were undertaken were very successful. We sponsored a Thanksgiving Dance, sold Christmas Holly, and alternated with the junior Class in selling pop at the basketball games. Our class has' many willing workers, so we can look with confidence to next year in hopes that we will be able to raise the necessary funds required to carry on the activities of the Junior Class. 1 di :xx A9 f ' ..,, 1 , x Q mg! 3 'SX ' x ' s. ix r X 1' 'ER DEDIJH NN N IJ! ln1'ig1f1I-llzllllvl H11-cn, Prcsirlcnt: FRESHMHN GIRLS lffm' ffm, lrft In Vlljljlf-Nilllllll' .Xnclrcws, l.1u'illc lfisk, -luy fX'liu'l1cll, Xlzlrlvnc flutlmric, Murizm l.uc, .Iuycu linmmiclq, Vuml llzllmlv, lilczmm' Xlnvlilzlmr, juunnc Cmvlcs, Szulclrzx VVcirlcr, Plmyllis KCIIIIUII. lffrzu lim--lrlzu Mac llnll'm:m. ,lzmicc Hutcllkiss, Luis llczlcll. VARSITY FOOTBALL Ifdison's foothall reeord for the 1950 season was not as impressive as its past records. For the first few games the team seemed to lack eontidenee in itself. They were defeated by a hard-driving Corning team hy a score of Sl-0 in the season opener. The following week the lfdison team journeyed to llornell where the story was the same-defeat-with a score of 41-6. The team seemed to gain some needed confidence and defeated Painted Post 20-0. The newly inspired lleights team defeated the favored XYatkins eleven with a score of I3-l2. The lleights eleven received more than its share of injuries this season. The Corning lfree Academy game found the Heights in losing position again with a score of lo-7. In the sixth game of the season with Haverling High, Heights was the vietor with a seore of Zl-6 in their favor. We were again defeated when XN averly came here to win 33-6. The last game of the season, the lidison team traveled to Uwego to display some of its traditional playing and won the game 34-l-1. l OOTliALL l.lNlf-Ul' l Clifford l'roper R. li ......... The baseball season was packed with the usual thrills and unpredictable events that are typical of the National Pastime. The season opened with a tie game with Painted Post that was called because of darkness after one extra inning of play. A leaping one-handed catch in center held by Carl Pesesky on a ball that was tagged for a home run, brought the crowd to its feet. After going hitless for six innings against Wiaverly, the team exploded to not only rob Herlihy of a no- hit, no-run game, but overcame a three run lead to win -l-3, Uther highlights of the season were night games played at XYaverly and Corning North. The pitching of llob Rundle and Stosh Northrop aided materially in computing a good record against strong competition. The school and community are proud of Gary May who has joined the Hrooklyn Dodgers baseball organization. He is scheduled to play with llornell this summer and the best wishes of everyone go to tiary for a very successful baseball career. 1 fu Ilciglzfx Ofifolzullt Score l Painted l'ost l 4 Corning' North Q ltundle4l'itcher, 3rd llast , 7 2 bfllltlwflf IQ Northropfldtcher.
