Dean of Women A wg ? .QV Dorothy I. Marple, DEAN OF WOMEN Dorothy I. Marple, as Dean of VVomen, had earned the distinction of being one of the busiest persons on the campus. After having received her B.A. degree from Ursinus College which is located in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, her M.A. from Syracuse University, and doing graduate Work at Duke University, she assumed the re- sponsibility of being Dean of VVomen at Thiel. She continued her studies at Union Theological Seminary and Columbia University. As Dean of Wonien she was concerned principally with administrative and counselling duties. The responsibility for all Womeifs resi- dence halls and the programs developed Within them was hers also. Along with Dean Stoeber, she had general charge of all student activities and advised the Student Union, Council, and Senate. She compiled the college social calendar, was secretary of Thiel Forum, acted as chairman of the Thiel Center Committee and the Council on Convocations and Special Occasions. Dean Marple acted as liason between the college and the American Association of University Women in addition to being advisor for all foreign stu- dents, WSCA, Cwens, Les Lauriers, and Pan- hellenic Council besides holding oflice in many community organizations. It Was With much regret that the Thiel Board of Trustees accepted Miss Marple's resig- nation of her post on April 27, 1961. Although We are happy to see her have the opportunity to continue her studies, her absence will be a great loss to the Thiel community. The Endymion would like on behalf of the student body to ex- te11d a most heartfelt thanks to Miss Dorothy Marple and send with her our wishes for a successful future.
