Foreword The Endymion is meant to be more than just a hundred and forty-four pages of paper bound together within a fancy cover, it is meant to be the frame- work on which to hang your memories of the four years spent at Thiel College. The staff realizes that a book cannot equal the breadth and depth of the personal impressions gleaned by you, the individual student, It is not a living thing and it can only reflect your sentiments. However, if some day in the near or distant future you pick up your copy of the Endymion and chance upon a photograph which recalls a cherished moment, then your college yearbook will be a success. This publication does not attempt to be all encompassing, it is merely a compro- mise rather limited in its scope. After you have graduated you may return to Thiel for a visit, but it will never again be the same. The moment that you receive your diploma, you know that a door has closed forever on one period of your life. As an undergraduate, you have already discerned change taking place. You have witnessed the con- struction of new buildings, you have observed the changes in the programs of study and even in the overall attitude of the students. Yet, despite this lack of permanence, you will always see Thiel as you knew it. You may not recognize the campus in the future, but the Enclymion staffs endeavor to capture this year in words and pictures will remain immutable. This is a chronicle more for the sentimental future than for the critical present. Specific instances are pleasant to remember, but they will serve the purpose of enriching your general impression of a wonderful experience. Besides the academic aspects of college life, the Endymion presents the organizations which supplement and enrich the curriculum oHered the student. From the all- encompassing activities of the Student Union to the informal discussions of the Lenten study groups, these organizations form the nucleus of student strength and cooperation. You alone have been the life blood of these activities, they could not exist without your interest and assistance. The various campus organi- zations are evidences of the student vitality and enthusiasm which strengthen Thiel and the alumnus pride in it. The important ingredient at any college is the individual, only he knows whether he will reach his peak through belonging to a group or through striking out on his own. However, the most important point of his college experience is that he does reach that peak. As you peruse this yearbook and recollect your college years, you are the only person who knows whether or not you have reached that peak. You have shared many wonderful moments with professors and with other students, and it is what you have put into your four years at Thiel College that will make the efforts of the Endymion staff a success or a failure.
