2'-PTES , 1 . 1 x, -. yx , S. it 'i .MNA N!-FA , as wtlllll e, I . 4- fig: Y , V I ' 7 yy tow W TERRY BATTLE TRO Class Representative, Co- operative Course. SAGA OF OUR DAYS CHAPTER FOUR Well, there we were, fourth termers, after a week's between-term vaca- tion. For a maiority of us, it was quite an experience to get a whole set of new teachers after only one term. But new teachers weren't all we had in store for us that term. To start the semester off on a note of togetherness , the Human Rela- tions Club, under the skillful direction of Mr. Leo Lieberman, sponsored our first International Buffet Dinner during Brotherhood Week. ln the spirit of brotherhood, parents, teachers, and students sampled the foods of many nations. Another new experience at Roosevelt was a Valentine's Day Dance, at which time everyone enioyed the good music and the decorations in the gym. Here we were to meet the future members of our clubs, teams, honor societies, T.R.O. Council, and the scholarship and celebrity winners of our senior class. But more important, we were to gain friendships that would last us through our remaining years at Roosevelt and possibly longer. In March, we attended a Talent Show sponsored by Miss Elkin and the T.R.O., which was a grand success. Through the efforts of Mr. Sanford Wolf, as emcee and auditioner, the shy boy from across the luncheon table became a lively and talented singer, and the tomboy from study hall turned into an agile and graceful ballerina. We witnessed the birth of a new literary magazine which was christened Prelude, and was under the creative guidance of Miss Natalie Sheidlower. When published, it was acclaimed highly by its readers. Our Square Deal once again won first prize at the Columbia Press Convention. Everyone waited impatiently for the day which was soon to arrive. On May 'l5, 1963, we boarded the City of Keansburg, the boat which was to take us to Rye Beach. A marvelous time was had on the boat and at Play- land, and we began thinking about next year's trip. The fourth term would soon be over, but before summer vacation, we had to wrestle with Regents exams. These completed, we looked foward to summer, and faced the oncoming terms with bright hopes and fond memories. Rose Oliveras
