The once? happy freshman is arguing wifh fhe insisfenf senior fhaf, in fhe firsf place, he has only one dollar which is fo lasf him all week, and sec- ondly, his friends are definifely nof baskefball fans, and are going fo fhe movies Safurday. Buf, fhe senior does nof give upg so, before fhe lafe-bell has rung, fhe poor vicfim is frudging fo his fyping class muffering under his breafh, and wondering how in heaven's name he allowed a brainless senior fo sell him a ficlcef fo a game he has no infenfion of seeing. Some members of fhe sfudenf body have cerfain fechniques which fhey exercise fo gef rid of fhe salesman before fhey break down and buy of him. ln February, fhe Square Deal announces fhaf our G. O. musf have a presidenf and all fhe frimmingsg and on Friday, af fhe Assembly, we meef all our prospecfive leaders. We learn fhaf one of our hon- orable presidenfs-fo-be has had a 99.9 average for 8 ferms, and belongs fo every honor sociefy of fhe school, and has won enough service and scholarship pins wifh which fo build a bomber lwhich gives me an ideal. Wifhouf much considerafion, we are 'sure he is fhe man-buf-our ofher candidafe, as we lafer learn, helps his mofher wifh fhe dishes, besides, so I resolve fo vofe for him. Comes Monday, and we vofe. Of course, by fhis fime, we forgef which secrefary if was 'rhaf wore fhe red blouse, and which was on fhe foofball feam. So, we resorf fo fhe good old eenie-meenie-minie- mo sysfem, or fhe hey-Jane-which-one-should-I-vofe-for sysfem. Some- fimes and forfunafely enough we use our brains and vofe for fhaf person who we fhinlc will benefif our beloved G. O., and, if's never happened fhaf we were acfually sorry because we elecfed any par- ficular officer. lThaf fakes care of any enraged officer who was ready fo file suif againsf me.l Our brainless senior and our campaigning husflers are lslighflyl exaggerafed examples of our adverfisers. They are a preview of fhe fufure salesmen of America, who, when 'lhey are ready for if, will sell us ficlcefs for World Series games and sell us fhe idea of vofing for Mr. John Jones for presidenf, nof of fhe G.
