FLOREA l In 1942 Hazel Florsh entered the first grade in a smell rurd Idlool in District 4 southofThedford. Thissdyoolwu 255 miles fromherhome and shehad to walk to and from school. In 1948 this school was closed so her folks moved to Thedford where she entered the 'ith grade in the Thedford Elementary School. She was second high gill in the county in the 811h grade examinations. In 1950 she entered the Thomas County High School as a freshman. When she was ssophomoreshe went 'to Ashbyfor the typing contestand got first in the 10 minute typing. ' The next year she ftook u piano solo to the District Music Festival at Sidney and received Exce1lent . She has accompanied for both boys and girls glee. In the summer of 1953 she went :to Girls' State at Lincolnl Atthe present time she is working onanothermanosolowhichmeplanstofuakevtotheSandrllMnslcFestivs.lat Mullen. After this she hopes to go to Alliance for the District Music Festival.
