PATHWAYS OF THE Senior History FOREST The greater number of the class of 19 1 were born in the yfa s, 19li2 and 19 5 IN The Pla ins area. Their parents guided them faithfully as they dev- eloped PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY THE FIRST SIX YEAPS. ThEN ON A SUNNY MORNING in September, 19 9» seventeen children came to the e lementary building of The Plains School for the starting of their academic education. These sfventefn were Carolyn Cade, Donna Channell; Charlotte Clark, Howard Clendenin, Lillie Clenoenin, Ralph Hartman, Charlotte Hill, Carol Keeton, Patricia Lovsey, Donna McDonald, Anita McWilliams, Joe Norris, Tom See, Effie Sharpe, Thomas Thomas, Clarence Tinkham, and Sandra Tinkham. Other Students who joined the class in THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WERE JaMF.S BaILS, KENNETH HAR v E Y , DONALD RaDFORO, AND Sue Thompson. The class wis divided the first two years into two sections. The teachers wh6 guioed those students the first six years were Mrs. Virginia Hayes (first grade), Mrs. Frances Higgins (primary!, Mrs. Camilla Wfisenbach (second grade), Mrs. Emma Beckley (third grade), Miss Alta Cooper (fourth grade), Mrs. Gladys Pickering (fifth g;ade), and iss Elva Cooper (sixth grade) • In 1 55 THE CLASS WAS ON HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL. SPROUTING INTO TEENAGEPS, WE PROUDLY ENTERED THE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING. As WE NOTICED THE OEVELOPEO TIMBER OF THE UPPER CLASSMEN, WE SEEMED LIKE SMALL CHILDREN AGAIN. LlNDA Hamilton and Leroy McCune joined the group in high school. During the high school years, the followinc officers were electeo: 7th, Mary Gusfman, Pres- ident; Barbara Thompson, vice-presiofnt; and Carol Kefton, Secretary-treasur- er; 8th, Thomas Thomas, president; Anita McWilliams, vice-president; and Donna 'v,cDonald, secretary-treasurer; 9th Kenneth Harvey, president; Sandra Tinkham, vice-president; a d Donna McDonald, secretary-treasurer; 10th Tom See, president; Carol Keeton, vice-president; Sandra Tinkham, secretary- treasurer; and Charlotte Hill, news reporter; 11th, Carol Keeton, president; Paul Beckwith, vice-prfsident; Sandra Tinkham, secre ary-treasurer; and Ken- neth Harvey, news reporter; 12th, Carol Keeton, president; Tom See, vice- president; Donna McDonald, secreta-y-treasurer; ano Anita McWilliams, news reporter. Tempers of the class were active in the Future Homemakers of America, Latin Club, Vocal Croups, Concert and «' arching Band, Senior Play, Athens County Honor Society, Silver Savings Bank, Cheerleading, Football, Basket- ball, and Baseball. In the Junior Year, the claps presented the Faster Ser- vice AND WAS HOST TO THE JuN I OR-SeNI OR PROM, THE THEME WAS M0rI FNTAL GARDENS. Then came the final 'jEar- -the Senior Year. All members enjoyed earning MONEY TO FINANCE THE WASHINGT0N NEW ORK JOURNEY, SEVERAL OF THE MEMBERS REMAINED AFTER SCHOOL ON THURSDAYS FOR EXTRA DUTY. The SENIOR PLAY TITLED ’’Uncle Orley,” wap a success, and the Christmas Service was impressive. The Juniors entertaineo the Seniors at the annual Reception in March. Our home room teacher was Mrs. Adda K. Maccombs for the six years ex- cept FOR THE TENTH YEAR, SECOND SEMESTER, AT WHICH TIME Mr. CHARLES FERRELL WAS THE HOME ROOM TEACHER. MlSS LOUISE DlVER SUBSTITUTED THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. In concluding, the class wishes to recognize the members of the Board of Fducation; the Executive Head, Mr. H.W. Humphrey, and the instructors: Mr. Robert Burson, Miss Beryl Cone, Mrs. Vernal Gardner, Mr. E.G. Horsky, Mrs. Adda accombs , Mrs. Anna Rose, Mr. Richard Shoemaker, Mr. David Stricklin, and Mr. Marion Wood, all of whom have so conscientously guided them these last six years. The class members are happily looking forward to entering the forest OF TOMORROW. It IS THEIR DESIRE TO ENTER THAT VAST UN I VERSF--SOME TO LEAD AND S OME TO FOLLOW.
