This year, we msde flower boxes for our mothers, and calenders for our fathers. We had 8 play house that year, too, and the girls had dolls with which to play. The second grade was our Indian year. We made a teepee and studied about Indians. The teepee wes like a play house. That's when the girls began to gossipj In the third grade, we went in for cowboys and dramatics. Since Tom Marcinko and Eruce Humphrey had ponies, we went to play at their homes. We gave a play and it was a great success at PTA, This year. Gene Sharpe was hit with a car and we all made books for him and went to visit him. In the fourth grade, Miss Cooper was our teacher. She read Vary in the Secret Garden to us. The children that didn't miss any schooT got to go to Visa Cooper's for a party after school. That year, we also gave 8 tea for the sixth graders. In fifth grade. Miss Elliot was our teacher. We had a store to sell school supplies. We gave puppet shows and had a May Dance. We took a trip to Marietta to the museum. Our last year was a big yesr for us. W’e made maps and wrote more stories. We published a newspaper, and visited the high school. At the end of the year, we had Children's Day, and a doll show. The fourth grade gave us a tea and we had a grad- uation ceremony in the high school building. The high school Invited us to a pep meeting and an award day program. During our first year in high school, we had Mrs. Rose for a teacher. We learned soon how to be quiet and not to borrow things. We had a picnic at the fair grounds. The girls had a basketball g8me and a tumbling act. We sold seeds and homemade candy to make money. With Miss Cone as our teacher, we gave a tea for the officers. We gave a play, The Knave of Hearts. The high point of this year was our graduation Into high school. When we entered the ninth grade, we were really members of high school. The girls Joined FHA and all of us became members of other clubs. We sang in glee club, and some of us became members of the band. We gave assemblies ourselves and got some awards on award day. 3y now, we were taking part in all the school activities 8nd we were trying hard to earn money for our senior trip and other expenses. In the eleventh grsde, Mr. Wood was our homeroom teacher again. We got our class rings thst year, gave a Christmas pro- gram, and g8ve a banquet for the seniors. ATHENS BUILDING MATS JOHN SLATER and SON BUCK AUTO SUPPLY OHIO POOD MARKET Sponsored By 14 Our big year at last. We entered the senior class with Mr. Wood as our advisor once again. We began on our yearbook, and we went out to sell ads. We ordered Christmas cards and hats, and had shirts to sell also. Three senior girls were elected cheerleaders; they, and the senior boy3 saw their last days in high school sports. Busy? We just flew through our lest successful year! One thing we enjoyed most was advertising for our yearbook. We had a lot of fun asking for donations, and we also did a lot of giggling. To top all that off, we had a big dinner with everything we wanted to eat. We ate candy and peanuts; until, when dinner time came, none of us were hungry, but we did a good Job of eating just the same. We have worked and played together for a long time. Now, here we are spending our last year together, and writing our iast class paper and yearbook. We plan to do many things this year. Money for the class has to be earned in some way, and our work has to be turned in before we receive our final high school diploma. That's what we have been looking forward to for twelve long years 1 We look forward to getting our diploma and wearing the class colors, scarlet and gray, and marching to the stage for our last time. We wish to thank all the teachers who have helped us through school. Most of all we wish to thank our mothers and dads who paid our expenses through our school years. And, we hope espec- ially to be able to live up to the fine expectations that all our friends and teachers have for us. i J 15 K Class Prophecy i 111 nrmmi MSHKHSMSSraKSXSXSM: RKXKXKl fc-R RKKKXKRKXHRiiRKXKRfcRMSKKK WHAT'S TO COME OF IT ALL Dave Wilson is a very lucky guy. We, the seniors, leave Mrs. Rose our good behavior. I bet she's tickled. I GOOD-BYE AND HELLO 1 Soon I shall lay my books away, and tears will fill my eyes. My heart will be so full of school- days’ end and sad goodbyes. I pick life's jewelled-mlrror up, and In Its depths I see. The past and all the golden hours that It has brought to me. 2 In gay procession come my friends and school mates true and dear. And all the jolly times we had throughout the happy year. And next my teachers come to view. How kind they were to me. How much they helped with lessons, too, each day, so patiently. 5 Those happy days are past and gone, but still why should I cry? Somewhere upon life's silver wave We'll meet, my friends and I. For soon we'll all be sailing toward horizons far and new. As merrily our white ships pass I'll wave Hello to you. 4 Within life's Jewelled mirror, now, I watch my friends go by. And think of all the happy days, Recall them with a sigh. But I'll hold back the tears, because, I know there'll come a day We'll meet and greet and find the Joys we thought had flown away.
