B Y-LA IVS. 35 .3 PAINS AND PENALTIES. XLIX. If the conduct of a member be disorderly, or injurious to the interest of the Club, or contrary to its By-Laws, the Board shall inform him there- of in Writingg and if the nature of the offence require it, shall request him to resign. L. Should such information or request be disre- garded, the Board shall refer the matter to the next stated meeting of the Club, or to a special meeting to be called for the purpose, of which due notice shall be given to the offending member. LI. At such meeting the circumstances of the case shall be considered, and the member may be ex- pelled. LII. The Board of Direction, by a unanimous vote by ballot of all its members, may expel a member of the Club for an infraction of By-Law Number XXXI., or for intentional Violation of the By- Laws relating to the ballot, or for other gross misconduct, immediate notice of Which expulsion shall be given him. Such expulsion shall be final, unless reversed. by a special meeting of the

34 BY-LA WS. than once in any one year save to an entertain- ment given in a private room, When the number of such residents shall not exceed one-fourth of the company present: Provided, That the Board may, at any time in its discretion suspend the operation. of this By-Law. XLV. The Board may admit to the Club, by Written invitation, any foreign diplomatic agent accred- ited to the Government of the United States, of Which the Secretary shall make a minute. I XLVI. A member introducing a stranger to the Club, or procuring for him an invitation from the Board, shall be liable for all his debts to the Club. . XLVII. A No stranger nor visitor shall give any gratuity to a servant of the Club. XLVIII. . On any infraction of the above By-Laws, the Board shall notify the offender, through his intro- ducer, that he can no longer enjoy the privileges of the Club..J l

35 5 Y-LA WS. Club, Which, at the Written request of the mem- ber so expelled, made Within thirty days there- after, shall be called by the Board. A copy of the notice of the said meeting shall be sent to the offender, Who shall have the right to be present and heard thereat. LIII.N If any member neglect for a period of thirty days to pay his just debts to the Club, the Secre- tary shall send him a Written notice of the claim. If the debt be not paid Within one Week after the date of suchnotice, the name of the member shall be posted on the notice board, with the statement of the amount due, and the nature of the debt, and after his name shall have been posted no further credit shall be allowed. If within thirty days from such posting the debt be not paid, the delinquent shall, fipso facto, cease to be a member of the Club: Provided, That upon his Written application, and the payment of all dues to the date thereof, the Board in its discretion, and upon such terms as it may think necessary, may remit the penalty of this By-Law. Of all Which the Secretary shall make, a minute. LIV.
