When the new library-classroom complex is completed, the facilities should last for many years. Now everyone connected with O'Neal can put forth major efforts to develop an academic program that will be the envy of North Carolina and which will go a long way towards establishing a rich tradition of excellence. The school was founded with that goal in mind. lt is now possible to accompilsh that goal. Parents, students, and fdcuity should dedicate themselves to work together to make O'Neat synonymous with excellence. Nothing else should be acceptable. l Q 19 JUNIORSJUNIORSJUNIORSJUNKDRSJUNIORS JUN! 0 RS i i Amreo Aroviis Doug Bryan? John Bufrus David Campbeii Anne Dana Leigh Daughtridge Laurie Dominguez Mat? Q N i l Jeanette Herlocker The Middle School years are a time for change. During this sensitive transitional period from elementary school to high school, Middle School students experience the changes that come from increased responsibility, a more rigororus academic environment, additional athletic opportunities, as well as various extracurricular activities. Students must make choices during this time when peer pressure is greatest and conflicting emotions are common. The Middle School faculty recognizes just how significant these years are and thus strives to give each student a taste of success, a yearning for independence, a sense of direction, and a sincere desire to develop potentialities. An abundance of energy and a high level of creativity, coupled with a more sophisticiated level of thought, often make this age group a most interesting one to teach. smrf e mv l. There are now more opportunities for boys and girls in the Middle School program and there are eieven programs for the high school students at the inter-scholastic level. Something for everyone is our philosophy. The Falcons are members of the Triad Athletic Conference and charter members of the lA Division of the North Carolina independent School Athletic Association. Competition is geared to schools with similar philosophy, size, and background. Our teams have a better than 5092 overall win record in conference play for the 87-88 school year. People can tell by the records set and the accomplishments made this season that the players performed well defensively and together as a team. This is best exemplified by the fact that all three seniors made All- Conference. I am very proud of what this group of young women accomplished this year.
