STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council this year has made some very important and lasting decisions. We decided that the Valedictorian of the Senior class should receive a fifty dollar Savings Bond and the Salutatorian should receive a twenty-five dollar savings bond. A Junior Red Cross Council was formed within the Student Council and four of our members were chosen to serve on the Young People's Community Association Commit- tee. We've sponsored a clean-up campaigng a book driveg and a Community Chest drive, all of which have turned out successfully. Each council member pushed the clean-up campaign by drawing posters which resulted in a much neater school. The book drive was for the benefit of the sailors at the New London submarine base and because of this drive several members had an opportunity to visit the sub-base. This second year, the Community Chest drive was met with a generous response from everyone. Out of this many donations have been given to many worthwhile charities. The most important business of the year was a meeting with the teachers. VVe were able to discuss and remedy many of the gripes of the students. The 1949-'50 Student Council officers are: president-Thomas Howard, vice president-Caroline Steinson, secretary-treasurer-Alberta Soderstrom. FORUM CLUB This year the Morgan Forum Club was host to the semi-annual Shoreline Forum. This interesting and educational event, which was held at the Andrews Memorial, was largely attended by representatives from surrounding towns. The officers for the current year are as follows: Everett Hunt, Presidentg Roger Griffin, Vice President, Johanna Soderstrom, Secretaryg and Virginia Borst, Treasurer. Guided by its competent advisor, Mr. Drew, its members are now qualified to compete in any topic under discussion. The Forum is an all important part of Morgan's activities and it is broadening and enlightening to meet with pupils from other schools and discuss subjects of importance and interest to all.

THE BOYS GLEE CLUB The Boys Glee Club started off the year with a greatly enlarged attendance. They made recordings of several selections in order to study their singing. They sang for the Parent-Teachers Association and also for several school entertainments. Combined with the Girls Choral Club, they gave several selections at class day and graduation exercises. Again this year they joined with Sceneshifters and Choral Club in taking part in the school operetta, The Pirates of Penzance. CHORAL CLUB This year's Choral Club, which was the largest in the school, has made some creditable appearances. Under the able guidance of Mrs. Walker and Mr. Wahle, they made their debut at the first assembly of the year. They performed at the school Christmas Program and at one of the Parent-Teachers meetings. They attended the All-State Musical Festival at the Bushnell Memorial in Hartford and with the presentation of the operetta, The Pirates of Penzance, they completed an enjoyable and beneficial musical year.

SCENESHIFTERS The Sceneshifters is a dramatic organization under the direction of Miss Horan This club has given the school and townspeople much enjoyable entertainment in the past The club began this year s activities by electing the following officers President Beverly Pendleton Vice President Caroline Stemson Secretary Shirley Kroupa and Treasurer Alberta Soderstrom At Christmas time the Sceneshifters planned and presented the Christmas Program which was held in the Grammar school on December 19th Soon after this a cast was chosen to present the skit The Ins and Outs which was put on at the Andrews Memorial during a school assembly The club also took an active part in the operetta The Pirates of Penzance the cast of which included members of the Boys Glee Club the Choral Club and the Sceneshifters With all the entertainments that were planned the Sceneshifters again succeeded in having a full and prosperous year IVY LEAVES The Ivy Leaves has just completed an exceptional year. Many issues filled with articles of interest to everyone in the school have been published. They began the year with an organization meeting under the direction of the new advisor Mr. Robert Hamil- ton. Nominations were taken for ofiicers and the following were elected: Editor-in- Chief, Ann Holbrookg Assistant Editor Myra Lee Dutrielleg Business Manager Joan Wall' and Exchange Editor, Ruth Schumack. Credit for the many and varied issues should be given not only to the members of the staff but to the many reporters and typists without whose help each issue would have been impossible. Special credit and thanks should be extended to Mr. Lindsay Fletcher whose poems have added much to every issue.
