CLASS HISTORY Destmed to lead never to follow 42 freshmen wlde-eyed anxious and I mlght add a l1ttle frlghtened entered Morgan in September 1946 True the upper classmen trled to keep us ln the customary place for freshmen at the foot of the ladder but the Class of 50 was different We met elected our ofiicers and like thoroughbreds at the race track we were off The annual magazine campaign was our first challenge We planned our strategy well of course we won and the results proved to the upper classmen that here was a bunch of kids to be reckoned wlth Our first year was a credlt to Morgan and we were awarded the Morale Prlze at gradua tion September 47 found us back 1n school still doing a good Job but lack 1ng a little of the freshmen pep We lost the magazlne campaign Maybe we dldn t sell as many magazines as the other classes but we certalnly gave them a good party Our most lmportant event as sophomores was the purchasmg of our class rlngs our everlast1ng remlnder of the happy days we spent at Dear Old Morgan As a class we were truly outstandlng and at commencement we were awarded the Morale and Scholarshlp prlzes From September untll June our Junlor year was a Wh1!'lWlIld of ex cltement We were the upper classmen now and took our respons1b1l1ty serlously Our financlal status was low and we realized that we must get to work and make some money Belng very cultured we declded we would have somethlng hlgh classed We engaged the Wesleyan Glee Club Our culture was greatly lmproved but the class treasury was minus instead of plus We were not daunted by thlS but worked very hard and made our Junlor Prom a social and financlal success Never IH the hlstory of the school has there been such feverlsh excitement as was experlenced when the basketball team won contest after contest captured the shorelme trophy and carrled Morgan s banner to the finals of the State Tournament We were loyal fans and appreciated the chance to have wltnessed such a fine team ln actlon Still ma1nta1n1ng our high scholastlc standing we were awarded the Scholarshlp Trophy at graduatlon Enterlng our senlor year we did not slacken our pace but set about the task of being an example of dignity and refinement now that a new set of bables namely the elghth grade had been brought 1nto our mldst The comblned efforts of each and every one made our year book venture a huge success We can boast that we sold more ads than any other prevlous class Much time and effort was put lnto our Christmas Cotlllxon and we brought a new custom to Morgan the crowning of the snovs queen It was the expressed desire of all that thls our best and shortest year be filled with deeds that would long remaln ln the memory of those who came after us Under the able guldance of our respected prmclpal Mr Joel our patlent and devoted class advisor Mr Duguid our helpful and understanding teachers and our dear frlend Mr Fletcher we have reached our goal May the echos of the happy volces of the class of 50 rlng long in the halls of this our Alma Mater whose loving arms have held us these the best years of our lives It IS vuth grateful hearts and tear dlmmed eyes that we realize that now the hour has come when the class of 50 must say farewell -JOHANNA SODERSTROM ww 22 1 1 1 1 1 , . 1 1 - ' ac 1 I9 - ' . . 1 1 . . . , . . . . . . . . . . . , . . 1 as 37 - . . . . . . - u - 11 . . . 1 - 1 . .
