They did an excel lent job of leading the Morgan fans and also teaching the new cheers at pep assemblies These two elements are the main reason for the Morgan cheering section being one of the loudest and most well organized along the Shorline. jane York, Lydia Pardo, Betsey Dibble and Beverley Pendleton are back from last year and chose Gertrude Platts and jo jo Soder strom to complete the squad.

BOYS BA As the Morgan Basketball season got under way for the 1949 and 1949 season many people felt that the team had seen its best last year and were doomed to fourth or fifth place in the shoreline league this season However among those whose thoughts of the team leaned hopefully to the brighter side were Mr Drew Mr Duguid and the fellows on the squad Starting with Don Scott in center the only regular back from the shoreline title winners of last year Mr Drew with the competent aid of Assistant Coach John Duguid began to build a team When the team won its first league game and then its second and third the hopes of even the most pessimistic fol lowers began to rise As the season drew to a close the team was riding safely in first place with only one loss in the shoreline and top rat ng in the state Then with the shoreline title safely tuckeci away the team entered the state tourney with high hopes and a large fol- lowing, both of which grew with each game. Finally the hard fighting Morgan team found themselves in the state finals in which they were outscored but not outplayed by a strong Tourtellotte team in 2 hard fought game. The boys returned home saddened by their loss to this strong team only to find the townspeople waiting with open arms and open hearts eager to do all they could for the team who exceeded their greatest expectations. A body of over a hundred cats met the team bus at Killingsworth circle and a huge procession lead by a police escort ran non-stop to the Andrews Memorial where a party was given. Many other fine gestures were made by the local citizens and merchants who glady and generously contributed to an award fund for the boys which enabled all the letterw'inners to receive sweaters and gold basketballs and which when SKETALL added to the tournament money enabled them also to take a weekend trip to New York This was the way in which the people of the town of Clinton rallied to show their gratitude and appreciation for this teams outstanding achievement in the history of Morgan basketball SCHEDULE 1948 1949 'ylorgan Hamden Hall Nlorgan Nlorgan Nlorgan Nlorgan Nforgan 'Nlorgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Nlorgan, ......, Nlorgan Morgan Niorgan Morgan Morgan Niorgan Morgan Nlorgan ........ ....
