FOOTBALL This year the team was an exceptionally strong one although they didn't get much of a chance to show it. In the first game of the season the team beat Madison by a score of 48-7 which left the Madison followers slightly bewildered. The next game Don Scott and Ed Johns the teams two big line men couldn't play as they were too heavy for the small Chester team. Nevertheless the rest of the team with other members of the squad ran up a score of 26-O by the third quarter and then let a fresh- man team finish the game which ended 26-24. The mainstay of the squad was composed of Ed johns in the center slot, Don Scott on the left end, Bill Shefheld and Carl Woodstock on the right end, Ken Cookson right half-back, Otto Finkeldey left half-back, and Evie Hunt quarter-back. Several injuries during practice took Bill Leckey out of his end position, and also kept Dicky Walton, Fred- die Thompson and Timmy Donahue out of active par- ticipation and made things look serious for a while, but the encouraing words and critical eye of Coach Nor- man Drew soon whipped replacements into shape as regular team men. Praise must also be given to Roger Griffin who has been such a fine manager for the past two years, it is not an easy job as Roger will tell you. Much hard work went into the formation of the team and even though they played only two games, through no fault of the school or team, the boys and the coach deserve much credit.

They did an excel lent job of leading the Morgan fans and also teaching the new cheers at pep assemblies These two elements are the main reason for the Morgan cheering section being one of the loudest and most well organized along the Shorline. jane York, Lydia Pardo, Betsey Dibble and Beverley Pendleton are back from last year and chose Gertrude Platts and jo jo Soder strom to complete the squad.
