CLASS HISTORY 1945 1946 We entered Morgan rn 1945 with surmountnng hopes and too much ambition to surt the fancy of the upper classmen After several months of hazing we finally dropped to the lowly status of Freshmen the underdogs of the school CAll Freshmen please notej Our adviser was Mrs Whelan who did very much to benefit us When we took our places rn Room Srx our total was a little over thirty but this was soon reduced to twenty eight when several of our fellow classmen left us We were surprised and pleased how ever to discover many new classmates from West brook The greatest event of our first year was the buy mg of class rings whxch left us for a trme with a deficrt in our bank accounts That same year we gave the upper classmen close competition by capturing second place IH the One Act Play Contest wtth the Senrors holding the first prize 1946 1947 Our Sophomore year thrs year was uneventful to say the least Being then a part of the school we took the prrvilege of rnrtratmg the Freshmen Our favorite pastime was letting everybody know of our presence In the magazine campaign we didn t win but descended to third place and rn the One Act Play Contest we recexved honorable mentron Plans were made to stage varrous shows and dances but were never completed Miss Spicer was our adviser doing what she could to boost us out of our little rut However something mteresttng did happen two new members joined and stayed w1th us They were Ted Hrbson and Ed johns After that a class was never complete without them Our class also excelled in sports as there were many athletes who qurckly proved themselves to be first team materral 1947 1948 A period of great achievement and a notorious name we started our junior term wxth a bang and ran headlong through until june We presented many activities and found many problems Our treasury increased from a small amount Cwas rt fourteen dol lars9J to a total balance of over one hundred dollars The reason for this amazing gam IS attrlbuted to the Cinderella Ball the Junior Prom and the various sales whrch the class sponsored The Ctnderella Ball may have started something new at Morgan By shear effort we made this dance a huge success socially at least although our treasury dldnt profit Nevertheless this caused our fellow schoolmates to rise from their seats and gaze at this wonder class of 1949 Another of our act1v1t1es was a radro drawing contest rn which the radro was practically given away srnce our total profit was the astounding sum of ten cents' Any previous remarks against us were erased when we presented the a fmanclal success to us as rt served as a morale burlder There were many out of school partres whrch added vartety to the year There was also much fun making at the junior Senror Banquet and the Basketball Banquet 1948 1949 Our last the best year at dear Old Morgan' This year we really rolled IH high gear Wrth our competent class adviser Mr Dugund at the throttle we started rrght to work on the yearbook By electing two compe tent fellows Ken Cookson and Ted Hrbson as edrtor and busrness manager respectively we didn t waste a minute rn begtnnrng our publrcatron We suddenly realized that this was our last toughest and probably our shortest year Tryrng to make the most of rt we therefore strove harder Now our finlshed products are plalnly v1s1ble for all to see One of the remarkable things that the 49 ers accomplrshed was being the first class ever to succeed in selling enough ads to make the yearbook profitable The preparations for the Sentor Cotrllron were begun in the middle of November thus giving us ample time to make the dance a successful event I-Irrrng an excellent orchestra and spending consrderable time on decorations helped put rt over socrally but agarn our success was shaky from the financral vrew point Another outstandmg actron that was taken was the establishment of the Senior Press Assocratron a long forgotten actrvrty 1n Morgan This printing club has published tickets pro grams pledges and the like for the benefit of the entire school Now we the Class of Nineteen Forty Nme are departrng to assert ourselves rn the world and do our best to benefit others Our ambltron 15 not only to leave Morgan well prepared for our future lxves but also to leave behind us some good and deslrable deeds whtch will be remembered by the rest of the students We srncerely hope that success was obtarned and that our deeds were refreshed rn your memory by this his tory ARTHUR SCHELD . , ' . 7 - - 1 .
