They are then selected by secret ballot, the girls receiving the highest number of votes filling the vacancies. Cleanliness, good voice, pleasing personality, good posture, neatness and dependability are but a few of the requirements for Usher membership. Ushers perform their duties in a quiet, effi- cient, and pleasing manner. This is one ot the m-my activities in which they participate. Among other events, they corsponsor the Carnival, usher at the teachers cone ference, sponsor independent and state college days and encourage high scholarship, leadership, citizenship and service. The National Honor Society is built on the foundation of five goals: character, service, leadership, citizenship, and scholarship. To become a mem- ber, you must be outstanding in these five aims. A student must have a two average for each semester. However, the student may receive on three if they have a one to balance it. They may receive no threes in citizenship. Members are pledged the first semester of their Junior year and if they re- main in good standing, will receive their pins second semester.
