Their first big moment was initiation which consisted of contests between the Frosh and Sophs and ended with the traditional Burning of the 'D' . After an active year, they received the much coveted Citizenship Cup, As Sophomores, they began to take their place in athletics with seven men on the varsity squad. That year, they also had a classmate as vice- president of the A.S.B. The following year, the Booster Girls were the center of interest for the girls and football for the boys. The student body offices were entirely filled with Juniors with the exception of the president's seat for both semesters. Their class play, The Great Big Doorstep, was a huge success. The Thes- pian play cast also was composed of many Juniors. For the Junior Prom, the class worked hard and ended up with a very successful dance, An Evening in Paris. While Seniors, they continued their excellent theatrical record with their play, Our Hearts Were Young and Gay. With one exception, the Seniors captured all the student body offices and also held many offices in various clubs and organizations. These '49'ers were an outstanding class and will regret leaving their fair school which holds for them many unforgettable memories. l . 1 N . 35 MAX ALBERT Class Play Committees 3-4, Thes- pians 4, Yell Squad 2-4, Latin Club 3-4, Trades 4. The Frosh this year have carried on the DHS tradition of digging the D . The burning of the D is a studentbody activity and climaxes the Freshman initiation week. At a final gathering of the student- body at the D the Freshman gave their pledge of loyalty to the school, ending a very successful initiation. Leak 58 W. Anthony D. Anderson R. Anderson D.
