Each will have memories of fhe regal Junior Prom, of fhe energefic affempf af a class play, and of fhe hecfic rushes fo meef newspaper and yearbook due dafes. Here we have been guided and sfimulafed by an able, sympafhefic faculfy. who have realized fhaf if is nol' fhe mere accumulafion of memo- rized facfs, buf fhe undersfanding of 'rhese facfs fhaf is fhe ulfimafe goal of educafion. We have been urged fo fhink for ourselves, 'ro formu- lafe and fo supporf our own opinions. During our four years, compefifion has become keener: sfandards have become more rigid. Advanced-level courses working af rapid paces in bofh mafhemafics and English have been inifiafed. The facilifies of fhe Academy have been greafly im- proved, primarily fhrough fhe addifions of modern science and language laborafories and a well-sfocked science library. The Thayer sfaff has been enlarged, and classes have been made smaller. Thayer has mef fhe chal- lenge of Educafion. In leaving Thayer Academy, we are closing a chapfer of our lives, yef fhis fhe year of our commencemen+ is fhe beginning of a new chapfer, fhe very happenings of which will be affecfed by whar has preceded. ln college and in our chosen walks of life, we shall feel fhe influence of fhe Academy, her dignify, her respecf for knowledge, her reverence for frufh.
