With THACH covering over 25,000 nautical miles on its round-trip voyage to and from the Gulf, the Quartermasters had more than enough charts to correct and prepare. Port calls and stops for fuel in Guam, Australia, Thailand, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Singapore and Hong Kong were planned with precision. The Signalmen kept visual communications a viable part of THACH's tactical strategy dur- ing tactical manuevering, underway replenishments and bilateral operations.
