At the beginning of the day The crew is severely divided along the lines of Shellbacks and Wogs. The Shellbacks are the old salty dogs that have had the pleasure of crossing the line on previous occasions and have, therefore, earned their right of pas- sage. i Wogs are those unlucky miscreants who have had to face the challenge. After a hearty Warm meal in the tropical early morning the lowly wogs are paraded about the decks, exercised if you will. A traditional set of initi- ating rituals take place before the judious eyes of King Neptune and Davy Jones, and then the once-de- spised Wogs are magically trans- formed and welcomed into the Brotherhood of the Raging Main. 8 WOG DAY J e irre
