-- The 1963-64 School Term Opens Anticipation was high for both students and teachers in late August when school began. The weather was still hot and dry but students didn't mind, They were looking forward to seeing old friends and to meeting new ones. Besides, there was a more than usual number of new teachers this year, What would they be like, the students wondered. Laden busses rolled in and when the final tabulation was made, there were 405 students enrolled. Mr. A, D. McDonald, former High school principal, assumed duties as superintendent. The Ag, department relinquished the services of Mr, James Pierce to take over the principal's position. What? More rules? A little mite of a girl in the big, new wonder- ful world of a First Grader, Io Ann Davis. The Bi Big Enrollment New Teachers Big Excitement New Experience This is the bill of fare for 54 First graders, the largest ever to enroll in the Elementary school. It's a long stroll up the sidewalk from car to school but mother's hand enc ou r a g e s Sammy West, son of Mr. and Mrs, E. Stockton, and Windsor Lacewell, Vacation Halted as Teachers Meet for uGet-Together A big hamburger fry followed by the stiff competition of Mexican dominoes, sent Texico teachers off to a good start in late August and officially ended opera- tion, vacation. The administrative force went all-out to make it an enjoyable affair. The food was superb and it gave the old a chance to meet the new, Hosts for the affair were A. D, McDonald, Jim Pierce, and Mrs, Zelfa Younger, Ah! The aroma of charcoal broiled hamburgers.
