BENEFITS More than 20,700 students from all over the world flooded the Tech campus for fall registration. They each followed the same path through a hot, noisy coliseum. The usual hassle of collecting class cards was frustrat- ing as sections closed and schedules had to K ' revised. New plastic-covered identification cards that resemble credit cards were issued to all students as they neared the exit. A new method of fee payment shortened VETERANS WAR ORPHAN BENEFITS BENEFITS and simplified the confusion in the coli- seum. Students were billed instead of hav- ing to wait in that final line with check- book in hand. Registration was not completely over when the coliseum doors finally closed. Classes were dropped and added at extra cost to dissatisfied students. But finally the initial flurry subsided and Tech moved into a new year a new phase of meeting the changing needs of stu- dent life. Jeff Lawhon captured the scene on film, using a cross screen (a spe- cial lense attachment) to create the glowing stars on the holly berries below and on the Journalism Building, opposite page. He ro- tated the camera during a one-second time exposure in the picture of an Administra- tion Building tower at left.
