Organized in 1939, it has a directorate of 33 people elected to membership by the Board of Directors of the College. Serving without any remuneration, these directors concern themselves with developing specific projects for the beneht of the college and with enlisting the interest of people throughout the state in assisting college enterprises. For instance, when Stangel beezune head of the Department of Animal Husbandry in 1925, there were only two gray mzires on Teehls farm. 'llodzlyp under Stangel's guidance, Teelrs livestock progrzun has grown to include herds of Herefords, Aberdeen Angus, Brahmzis, swine, sheep, and tloeks of chickens and turkeys. Dean Stangel has also proven his leadership ability while serving outside his ziezldeniie duties. He is past president of sererzil organizations, including National liloek and Bridle Club and the Texas Pzinhzindle-Plains Dairy Association.
