BIBLE CHAIR LECTURESHIP Each spring pertinent problems concerning young people are discussed during the 'Bible Chair Lectureship. A capable guest speaker is invitedto deliver the lectures. Hardeman Nichols, the lec- turer this year, is particularly qualified to discuss the theme: 'As A Man Thinketh. Brother Nichols, who has studied at Freed-Hardeman College and West Virginia University, has done evangelistic work in nine states. He has served the Cordova, Alabama, congregation and the Sunset congregation in Lubbock. He is working with the North A and Tennessee church in Midland at the present time. 'I'he Lectureship this year was held April 8-11. In- cluded in the'theme 'As A Man Thinketh' were several topics concerned with 'Our Attitude Toward Life. SOUTH PLAINS BIBLE SCHOOL During each fall semester Christians throughout the South Plains area are encouraged to take advantage of classes taught in the 'South Plains Bible School. Since the school began ten years ago, as many as thirty different churches have been represented in classes which are designed to fit the needs of the young and old alike. The 'South Plains Bible School' was begun at the Southside church of Christ ten years ago. Sponsorship was later assumed by the Broadway church, and still later, by the church of Christ Bible Chair, under whose auspices it has continued for the past five years. This year the school was conducted each Monday night September 17 to November 19.

Dick Atkins, a graduate of Texas Tech in 1954 a.nd a former Bible Chair student, provides annual funds for the Atkins Extemporaneous Speaking Contest. As an incentive for men students to engage in pub- lic worship services, the contest provides religious books for preliminary winners and cash prizes for the three top contestants. DISCUSSION WEEK The first 'Discussion Week was held during the Fall Semester of 1955. Its success made 'Discus- sion Week' an annual event at the Bible Chair. People who are representative of various profes- sions and faiths are asked to appear in a series of panel discussions. After a short devotional, topics of interest to the students are discussed by the panel. The students are encouraged to participate in the discussion by askingquestions. 'Discussion week' this year was February 11-15. The theme was Think on These Things. Included in the theme were: Render Unto Caesar, Courtship and Mar- riage, Know Thyself, and Show thyself Ap- proved. Speakers on the panel this year were: Dr. S. M. Kennedy Dr. A. W. Young Dr. F. W. Maddox Mrs. M. Norvel Young Ronald Bailey Cecil Matthews O. T. Shipp Mrs. Casey Fine Louis Cobbs Arthur B. Watkins Herbert Greenberg Henry Seidmeyer The camera records a portion of 'Discussion Week' for telecasting on 'Texas in Review.
