ig., BBARD'5 PRESIDENT HU Wm! V TEXAS STATE COLLEGE ron WIJMEN Durron. Tkxne 0 l Pk U To The Class of l9b7: As you approach the day when you will be graduated from the Texas State College for Women, and are, I hope, wondering as to the meaning of this four-year experience on the campus you have learned to know so well, I would have you listen to this song of Walt Whitman: Come, I will make the continent indissoluble, I will make the most splendid race flue sun ever shone upon, I will make divine magnetic lands, With the love of comrades-, With the life-long love of comrades. I will plant companionship thick as trees along all the rivers of America, and along the shores of the great lakes, and all over the prairies, I Will make inseparable cities with their arms about each other's necks, By the love of comrades, By the manly love of comrades. For you,' these from me, O Democracy, to serve you, ma femme! For you, for you I am trilling these songs. Yes I would have you remember that the importance of these four years will be measured by the strength of the devotion you have acquired for America, and by your determination to make Democracy, within its borders, a Vital force. And then, making Democracy a vital force within the borders of this fair land, you will then bend your every effort toward making its influence felt throughout the world. The time has come when every lover of Justice must believe in, and work for, world peace. Have you learned this lesson at T.S.C.W.? That you have is my fervent hope. Yours very sincerely, L. II. Hubbard, President J
