Geological Petroleum Technology Pi Omega Pi is a business teacher education honor society founded June 13. 1923. whose purpose is: ( I ) to establish and direct chapters of Pi Omega Pi in colleges and universities en- gaged in business teacher education. (2) to cre- ate a fellowship among teachers of business sub- jects. (3) to create and encourage interest and promote scholarship in business education. (4) to encourage civic responsibility. (5) to foster high ethical standards in business and profes- sional life among teachers of business, and (6) to teach the ideal of service as the basis of all worthy enterprises Students majoring in Business Education or Basic Business Education with at least sopho more standing and a B average in business sub jects are eligible for membership.. Pi Omega Pi is one of 47 college honor soci eties affiliated with the Association of College Honor Societies. The society colors are blue, sil ver. and gold. The society flower is the red rose Publications include histories, directories, the handbook, newsletters, and yearbooks. The soci ety has two pieces of insignia which are the of ficial badge of Pi Omega Pi — a key and a pin. Texas Southern University has the 129th chap ter of Pi Omega Pi. It was established March 26 1971. The chapter name is Epsilon Iota. Miss Naomi Flix is the current sponsor. An Initiation and Banquet are held each Spring. At the Banquet, outstanding Business Education and Basic Business Education majors are honored for their academic achievement and service to the honor society through recognition, gifts, trophies, and scholarships Loans up to $100 are available to Business Education and Basic Business Education majors needing assistance for school in emergency cases Our community service projects include pro- viding Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets of food to poverty-stricken families.
