si is ef ff 5 T it In Memoriam The school year 195-l-55 began with great gain for tis in personnel, but it also brought us sorrow with the loss by death of the highly-esteemed and beloved pro- fessor, L. Maltolm Levy. Professor Levy first came to us in the year 1929 after receiving his M. A. degree from the University of Texas, following undergraduate work at Tulane University. Throughout the years he took special pride in his Latin and linglish classes. Besides his classroom interest, Professor Levy was the faculty advisor of the school newspaper, the Panther, and he helped the cadets to print each successive issue better than the previous one. He sponsored the junior Literary Society and showed unusual enthusiasm by giving tl Debate Medal, at the Clommencement llxercises, to the best debator during the year.The Levy Latin Medal was given at Clominencement also, for the student with the highest Latin grade in any given year. Professor Levy coached the junior Baseball 'leam for several years, thus earning the nickname of C0ach . Professor Malcolm Levy was considered one of the. best authorities on English grammar in the Southwest by the many teachers who knew him. His ability in teaching this subject was so outstanding that his teaching talents were used in night classes at Trinity University and Lackland Air lforce Base. Not only did Mr. Levy take interest in our School, but in the public affairs in San Antonio as well. He taught Sunday School in the Presbyterian Clhurch and he allowed nothing to diminish his interest in the San Antonio Council for Retarded Children. A generation of cadets has benefited from Professor Levy's guidance, personal attention and help in providing a firm foundation in linglish and Latin. Those who knew him are grateful for the warmth of his friendship and long will cherish his memory.
