Scrapbook wins third at TALA Conference Students that were willing to participate as library assistants, willing to work at least two and one-half hours a week, and to attend at least six of the eight meetings met the only require- ments of Library Club. They strove to arouse and to encourage interest in librarian- ship as a profession, and to sup- port the district and state Teen- Age Library Association. Club members worked in study halls, after school, and on Tuesday and Thursday nights. FTA members involved in various activ'ties Building character and pro- moting interest in the careers of education were the main goals of Future Teachers of America. FTA activities included student teaching, making I.D. cards, attending conventions, and ush- ering at various meetings. FTA also assisted TSTA with their activities. A point system was used by members to allow them to attend state conventions and practice teaching at elementary schools. Paula Simpson served as 1974-75 FTA president. Julie Patterson and Carla Chasteen, vice-president, Debbie Year- wood and Resa Harris, secretar- ies, Cliff Gobin, treasurer, and Janie Bally, historian. BIG D - Vice-president Steve Schoen and secretary Billy Rainey discuss plans to attend Key Club convention in Dallas. Key Club sold mums for Homecoming '74 Key Club, a service organiza- tion whose main objective was to develop character and lead- ership in young men, was spon- sored bythe Texarkana Kiwanis. During the year, the club helped on a Christmas drive for the Salvation Army, attended Kiwanis luncheons, sold mums for Homecoming, and spon- sored several service programs for the community.
