GREAT CATCH, DAVID - Carolyn Barnes watches as David Steelman catches the Frisbee thrown to him by one of his friends. As summer got underway, THS stu- dents found themselves busier than ever. Many of them found summer jobs in vari- ous capacities. Those who wished to fur- ther their education attended summer school. Classes began at 7:OO each morning and continued until noon. THS cheerleaders practiced twice daily during the months of July and August. They were rewarded for their work when they returned from SMU cheerleading camp with top honors. Boys' State delegates traveled to Aus- tin to attend the camp at the University of Texas. Texas Lutheran College was the site of Girls' State Camp in June. News- paper staffers attended a week-long workshop in Austin. FCA camp in Russell- ville, Ark. was attended by five members of the THS club. Football players began working out in mid-August in preparation for their first game. The annual Booster Club waterme- lon supper was held in their honor on the evening of August l9. Students picked up their schedules on August i4 and 15, and a long summer came to an end when classes resumed at 8:20 on August 26. C F5 N--. Fall set pace for an extremely eventful year ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR - Major- time to the beat of the Texas High School Marching Band. The event ettes Barbara Stephenson, Betty Pitchford, and Diane Graves keep is the Four States Fair Parade. The back to school rumble kept THS students on their toes, trying to get used to their new schedules and in some cases to a new school. There were very few cur- ricular activities going on at first, but later on Juniors met with the people from Bal- four about ring orders. The orders were taken on September 9. During the same week clubs went on drives to recruit new members trying to reach new heights in membership. Also during that week Year- book pictures were taken. A special delight to most Texas High students was the rival game between the mighty Tigers and the ferocious Razor- backs. This game brought the bi-city together and started out a hopeful foot- ball season. Student Council sponsored a sock hop in honor of the beginning Sophomores. PTSA later had a membership drive. In its effort to achieve 10070 membership it offered a free hour to the students.
