,.-- F ei ca Q vi-'va VARSITY FUUTBALI. AFTER three weelas of intensive practice, Coaches Fulton and Mosher sent their gridders into a fracas with the North Dallas HBH team. The Broncs ran roughshod over the hapless Bulldogs to the tune of 33 to O. This comparatively easy victory created a feeling of grandeur throughout the team. This feeling, however, was to a large extent deflated on the following Friday. ln this game Viclcery Hillcrest raclied and saclted the Broncs 25 to 7. The next weelc the Broncs encountered the Jesuit Rangers. A heavy favorite to lose, the Broncs outplayed their heavier opponents throughout the lirst hall. But the Rangers came haclc to tally three counters and wallc oll' with a 19 to O decision. After an open date, the Broncs journeyed to Cow Town to engage Laneri High School. ln this game the Broncs played what was perhaps their hest game. After a hard-fought lnattle the lads from Dallas hrolce into the win column lor the tirst time in a month - 20 to 6. The next engagement was a game with the Highland Parla BU team. This game ended in a 12 to 12 deadloclc, with Upistol Paclcin' H llqe Scarborough slipping 85 yards to tie it up with but minutes to go. The last game of the season was the hig one which the hoys were anticipating. Eager to atone for the 33 to 6 druhhing they received last year, the Broncs met the Ferris outht with utmost determination. Scoring every point in the First half, the Broncs carried a well earned 20 to 12 victory. The tall of 1944 might he called T.C.D.'s most successful football season. THE Lower School foothall season started early with two scrimmage games before the opening of school. Although the squad startecl out with only about twelve boys, by the encl of the season there were more than thirty-live hoys out for coaching. Bill Clark was macle captain and .left Browning, co-captain of the team. The first game was played against Highland Parl: .lunior High School. Although defeated the team gained valuahle experience. Coach lvlurray enterecl the team in a league ancl a game was played each Sat- urday moming cluring the season. Schools represented were: Ranltin, Chapel, Wal- nut Hill, Holy Trinity, Turtle Creela, Terrell Preparatory. Next year it is hopecl the team can get clown to husiness early and proht hy this year's experience. Nosherg the inclomitahle spirit on the part of the hoys anrl, last, hut not least, the clelegation from Fort Wodh who fought so valiantly lor the Cold ancl Blue. Next fall when once again the pigslcin is in the air, there will he many olcl faces ahsent from the 'l'.C.D. foothall camp.
