An eminent authority on the subject of social functions, Ben has become the prime factor in all these activities. Ben malces many contacts through the dit- ferent schools, and seems to have a female admirer in most every neighborhood. One can- not tulle ol Ben and forget to mention the tact that he is a jitterbug of high standing. This is proved by the tact that he may be lound inside a crowd of people wildly jitterbugging at most any dance. Somewhat resembling lrranlaie, Ben has a very good voice, not tor sing- ing, however, but lor spealcing. Several times each year he is called upon to deliver some speech which requires the experience of such a colorful spealcer. Arriving just in time for hasehall, Joe went out for this sport and proved to he a worthy contrihution. Undoubtedly the schools foremost motorcycle rider, Joe can sometimes he seen flying past in his new Army Motorcycle. This past summer, however, Joe met with a horrihle fate and had an accident on his vehicle. The incurred accident hospitalized him for some time and he did not retum to school until mid-term. As the saying goes, you can't lceep a good man down, and Motorcycle Mike was haclc again on his machine. The ahsence of his long legs was indeed a loss to the football and haslcetlaall teams. ln his relatively ephemeral stay at T.C.D. Joe has come a long way in curricular activities. Serving in the capacity of the assistant photographic editor of this puhlication, Joe has made enormous strides in rushing this hool: to completion. He has the admiration and respect of his teachers and classmates, and is very capable of talcing a jolce. Joe lvlilce plans to enter the Univer- sity of Colorado this summer. It he carries on with the same spirit and friendship he has shown here, he will he within easy reach of his ultimate goal. ,s Z 6' 61,1 if -Lf , '5 4. E5 55? VZ -ui HENRY EXALI. Our main building, which contains most of the classrooms, the offices and the Upper School Boarding Department, is located at 5412 Binldeyg the Science courses are given at the Snider Plaza building. The Lower School dormitory is located at 5002 Swiss Avenue. We are fortunate in having the use of the Fondren Library Audito- rium lor our Friday Assemblies and special programs. The footluall, haslzetlnall and haselnall groups have enjoyed a very successful eason, alth mvii gh the school could not provide the facilities which it desired. AFTER three weelas of intensive practice, Coaches Fulton and Mosher sent their gridders into a fracas with the North Dallas HBH team. The Broncs ran roughshod over the hapless Bulldogs to the tune of 33 to O. This comparatively easy victory created a feeling of grandeur throughout the team. This feeling, however, was to a large extent deflated on the following Friday. ln this game Viclcery Hillcrest raclied and saclted the Broncs 25 to 7. The next weelc the Broncs encountered the Jesuit Rangers. A heavy favorite to lose, the Broncs outplayed their heavier opponents throughout the lirst hall. But the Rangers came haclc to tally three counters and wallc oll' with a 19 to O decision. After an open date, the Broncs journeyed to Cow Town to engage Laneri High School. ln this game the Broncs played what was perhaps their hest game. After a hard-fought lnattle the lads from Dallas hrolce into the win column lor the tirst time in a month - 20 to 6. The next engagement was a game with the Highland Parla BU team. This game ended in a 12 to 12 deadloclc, with Upistol Paclcin' H llqe Scarborough slipping 85 yards to tie it up with but minutes to go. The last game of the season was the hig one which the hoys were anticipating. Eager to atone for the 33 to 6 druhhing they received last year, the Broncs met the Ferris outht with utmost determination. Scoring every point in the First half, the Broncs carried a well earned 20 to 12 victory. The tall of 1944 might he called T.C.D.'s most successful football season. THE Lower School foothall season started early with two scrimmage games before the opening of school. Although the squad startecl out with only about twelve boys, by the encl of the season there were more than thirty-live hoys out for coaching. Bill Clark was macle captain and .left Browning, co-captain of the team. The first game was played against Highland Parl: .lunior High School. Although defeated the team gained valuahle experience. Coach lvlurray enterecl the team in a league ancl a game was played each Sat- urday moming cluring the season. Schools represented were: Ranltin, Chapel, Wal- nut Hill, Holy Trinity, Turtle Creela, Terrell Preparatory. Next year it is hopecl the team can get clown to husiness early and proht hy this year's experience. Nosherg the inclomitahle spirit on the part of the hoys anrl, last, hut not least, the clelegation from Fort Wodh who fought so valiantly lor the Cold ancl Blue. Next fall when once again the pigslcin is in the air, there will he many olcl faces ahsent from the 'l'.C.D. foothall camp. As the Latigo goes to press, the Broncs have played four games. ln the First game the Broncs dropped a close -1-2 decision to the Sunset Bisons. The T.C.D. nine elced out a 6-5 victory over an improvised team from Highland Parlc Junior High. The next game was played with Highland Parl: High second string team. BASKETBALL RETURNlNG to the hardwood courts for the lirst time in many years, 'l'.C.D. put out a team that, though inexperiencecl ancl unpracticecl, gave a very favorable account of itself.
