When all else fails-go to the bookstore-you might find Tommie Lopez, Diane Johnson and Carlos Ybarra there too. This afternoon I discovered the bookstore. They have everything! It's like a small general store. I bought my books, pens and pencils, special equipment for drawing class, a new t- shirt with an A I logo, a book bag, anyway, I spent quite a bit of money (only on necessities Dad) and if you could send some more it would be fantastic.” After dumping my books off at the dorm I went back to the Student Union Building (nicknamed the SUB) to check out the gameroom. There are several video games that I want to learn to play, as well as pool and ping- pong tables. Tve seen posters up all over campus about a dance tonight at the Pub (inside the SUB) and can't wait to go and meet all the people that will be there. Classes start tomorrow so I'll let you know more about what's going on later ... August 25, 1982 It was so exciting finding a letter in my mailbox my first day here! Regis- tration was held in the library and went much smoother than I had first anticipated. I've met my adviser and my schedule looks like it will work out fairly well with Tuesday my long- est day due to my 2:30 lab. The school newspaper (South Texan) put out a special registration edition {describing campus organizations, departments Texas A I University here I am! and upcoming activities) that I read through twice. I sure hope my classes aren't too difficult 'cause it looks as if there is a lot going on at this universi- ty that I want to find out all about. Dorm life so far is great. People are always goofing off or watching the soaps in the lounge. In fact, my favor- ite is about to start and I need to grab a chair before they're all taken. I'll be back to this later ...
