In chemistry, they have this con- glomerate of machinery called a Dou- ble Mass Spectrometer that identifies chemical compounds and forms ions. It does all sorts of other stuff too, but when he wouldn't let me play billiards I decided to check out something else One of the Biology department's snakes which is milked for its venom. 12 Exploring a microscopic world is Vivian E. Keri Macomb takes inventory in the Physics' department stockroom. Good news! I got a call from the per- sonnel office today about a campus job. But I must specify three job preferences . . . Anyway, I told them I would take the first available job that I qualified for and then left to investigate the art de- partment. On the way over there, I got slightly sidetracked and wound up in some group's meeting. They sounded interesting too so I stayed there for a while. When I finally made it to the art department, I almost stumbled over my history professor! Maybe he didn't notice ... Michael Diaz carefully stacks silica bags in the art department. 14
