Time can mean many things. To a senior, there are mem- ories ot the years behind him spent in college and dreams of the future into which he is about to step alone To the freshman, time brings to mind the idea that he has just started an entirely new period of his life. The years ahead in college look bright and he can see only dimly the future. But to all of us come occasional reminders that time is fleeting — that the Moving Finger is busily writing. Time often erases memories from the minds of human be- ings. The hours spent in Texas A l in studying, going to class- es, dancing, enjoying recreation provided in our Student Union, leisure hours in the dorms talking to friends—all of these are things which none of us wants to forget. So, in order that we might help students remember this year at A l, the staff of EL RANCHO has sought to collect and preserve in this volume the many memories we do not want time to dim.

Through the portant gifts to have made im- greater service to the youth of the state. To us, these gifts m ay be classified in three ways. which promotes the growth of the college as a whole as well as that of students. Another is the gift of scholarships that help to bring woTthy students to Adi and encourage them to study. And still another, a gift of service and spirit on the part of faculty members and administrators who in countless ways build the morale of students and aid them in the J- and good citizenship. It is to all persons who have made gifts such as these toward the develop- ment of human lives through a greater Adi that we dedicate this 1952 issue of El Rancho.
