President J. O. Loftin This yearbook marks the passing of a very profitable and enjoyable year for the student body of A. and I. College. Yet deep in the consciousness of every student is the realization of the turmoil of the youth of other lands and a wonder if their bitterness will soon he shared with the young men and women of America. The wanton lawlessless of nations is the fruit of unstable peoples led by over- ambitious war lords. Many of these peoples once enjoyed the liberties, peace, and luxuries that Americans still retain. But the college youth of America should draw on their training and judgment in being the first to detect subversive ten- daides within their own group and thus avoid a fertile soil for seeds of dan- gerous “ isms.” The administration, faculty, and student body join in praise of the El Rancho staff for this yearbook. All will keep this book with growing appreciation as the years crowd our lives into such short spans. Our hope is that good judgment, patriotic hearts, and the Divine Will may preserve tor all of us the fortunate heritages we now possess. J. O. LOFTIN
