Fish Camp Where The Ordinary Become Ags ish Camp ’86 drew 2,092 freshmen to Lakeview Methodist Assembly in August to learn the ways of Aggie life. The camp, held near Palestine for the past 33 years, is sponsored by Student Y and designed to help freshmen make an easier transition into college life. “Fish Camp enables students to become aware of the tremendous opportunities they have at A M.” says Fish Camp ’86 assis¬ tant director David Lawhorne. A total of 648 counselors and 50 staff members also attended the camp’s four ses¬ sions. The camps join together to learn Aggie yells, songs and traditions and they com¬ pete against each other in various sports. The freshmen are offered workshops on such topics as study habits, Aggie social life, and money management. Student Y hopes that Fish Camp will help freshmen meet other freshman Aggies as well as upperclassmen, develop friend¬ ships, and learn about A M while having fun. By Susan M.
