Jim Earle, professor of engineering graphics, began to draw “CADET SLOUCH” during his junior year at Texas A M. The character emerged at Thanksgiv¬ ing in the Battalion. In the ensuing twenty-five years. Slouch appeared on greeting cards, in magazines and in his own comic strip. In 1976, “Cadet Slouch” became simply “Slouch” and now appears with and without a ca¬ det uniform.
