Texas A M, like all institutions, must change to meet the demands of changing times. The University System is expanding and is being controlled by new faces. For the first time in recent history, the university has a president who is not an Aggie. We feel sure that he will carry on in an outstanding manner, as have our past leaders. It is only through superior leadership and cooperation that we can stay in step with the world’s rap¬ idly changing pace. Many of us are now preparing to leave A M. We are all Aggies, proud of our heri¬ tage and have that spirit deep within us. We have received the education for which we came and will carry with us forever a host of fond memories and an awareness of the fu¬ ture. Time may change the buildings and the faces, but it will never change the Aggie Spir¬ it that dwells in the hearts of all men who have attended Texas A M University. JEREYL BOLES Editor 12

(SEN. ALVIN R . LVEDBCKB ’22 It is in honor of a man who has been dedicat¬ ed to the objectives of Texas A M since he first enrolled here in 1928 that we dedicate the 1971 Aggieland. This man is General A. R. Luedecke who served as acting president from March, 1970, to November, 1970, and who now serves in the newly created position of executive vice- president. In the wake of General Rudder’s death March 23, 1970, the Eldorado, Texas, native took over Texas’ biggest jobs: providing leadership for the educational, service and research system which stretched across the state - The Texas A M University System. General Luedecke, a 1932 chemical engineer¬ ing graduate of Texas A M, devoted his energies to the continuation of the programs initiated by his friend and classmate. He is a man with emi¬ nent qualifications enhanced by administrative experience in the executive branch of govern¬ ment, as well as his military, scientific and engi¬ neering background. We have reason to be proud of General Luedecke, for he accepted and fulfilled the chal¬ lenge with enthusiasm, determination and confi¬ dence.
