President Sari Rudder President Rudder took office on 1 July 1959. Vast expansion of facilities, higher salaries for staff and faculty, larger enrollment, and the attainment of a greater status for Texas A AA University have been his goals. He has progressed toward these goals with rewarding results for his alma mater, the State of Texas, and the nation. Mr. Rudder was born in Eden, Texas in 1910. He attended Tarleton Agricultural College (now Tarleton State College) for two years, and completed his edu¬ cation at A M, where he lettered in football. Gradu¬ ating in 1932, he received a B.S. in Industrial Educa¬ tion. Until the beginning of World War II he taught and coached football. He entered the Army as a first lieutenant, served with distinction, attained the rank of colonel in less than four years, and led the Second Ranger Battalion against Pointe du Hoc on the cliffs of Normandy on D-Day. A World War II hero. Rudder retired from the Army Reserve July 12, 1967, in ceremonies at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. His last assignment during 35 years of military service was Assistant Deputy Com¬ mander for Mobilization, Continental Army Command with the rank of Major General. Upon his retirement, Rudder was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the nation ' s highest award for peacetime service. Mr. Rudder welcomes, visitors before a Corps Review. 15
