Foreword The calendar on the wall, much marked and tattered with dates crossed ou1 or notations scribbled and quizzes checked ... or too often, unchecked. Our college experience is a doorway to life, and it is growth that opens the door. Growth, without which our college would long ago have died and which makes each of us better today than we were yesterday. Growth through physical expansion, growth through experience, growth through the study of books, growth through research—which make, if possible, for us to develop a thorough knowledge of the latest techniques in all fields. To the extent that we use these forms of growth, we open that door with confidence and op¬ portunity. An annual, like a diary, is a record of things past. In this record of the past year, there also is the opportunity to show the rest of the world what a great institution we really have.
