School of Engineering B road programs of education in the engineering sciences are offered through the several curricula of the School of Engineering. These programs are designed to develop the student ' s abilities to enable him to enter into and advance with the profession of engineering, and to lead a useful and happy life in his community. Quite naturally, these curriculum plans include as their main core the fundamentals of engineering science and the basic materials related thereto, but in addition they include subjects from the social and humanistic sciences. Thus, not only will the A AA engineering graduate be technically trained but also humanly and socially educated. In order to qualify for a Bachelor of Science degree in the student ' s chosen field, he must complete satisfactorily a minimum of four years of comprehensive study in mathematics and science. In addition to theory, practice work and problem courses are provided in order to better acquaint the student with application of his knowledge. A AA does not turn out men trained solely in mechanical and manipula¬ tive skills. With the exception of industrial education, all curricula are planned to provide preparation for research, design, operation, manage¬ ment, testing, or maintenance of engineering projects. Various four-year curricula are available at A AA and each leads to the Bachelor of Science Degree. Those offered are Aeronautical, Agricultural, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Geological, AAechanical, and Petroleum Engineering. Geology, Geophysics, Industrial Education, and Industrial Engineering are also included in the School. Five-year curricula lead to Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering Degrees, and various combined degrees are avail¬ able also. M.E. 310 labs are required to machine a complete drill press from bar stock and sand castings during the semester to familiarize the student with factory processes. 22
