Dr. AA. T. Harrington President, A M College of Texas Dr. M. I. Harrington, president of the A M System, is an excellent example of the type of leadership that A AA must have in order to suc¬ cessfully emerge from its newly developed grow¬ ing pains. Dr. Harrington has taken part in the growth of the college for forty-one years. A mem¬ ber of the class of 1922, he earned his bachelor ' s and master ' s degrees here. After graduation, Dr. Harrington taught at A AA until 1941. When he received his Ph.D. from Iowa State, he returned to devote his life to Texas A AA. After achieving a distinguished record in the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Harrington was appointed president of the college in 1950, and became chancellor in 1953. One A AA student may have hit upon the secret of Dr. Harrington ' s success when he remarked, Dr. Harrington ' s in¬ terest in the school goes far beyond his adminis¬ trative job. His sincere support is always obvious when you see him and his wife at campus func¬ tions. 11
