THE ASSOCIATION OF FORMER STUDENTS On June 23, 1880, the inception of the Association of Ex-Cadets marked the beginning of a movement which has played a vital role in supporting A M and its students. This association is known today as the Association of Former Students of the A M College of Texas or even better known as the Aggie Exes. Through the efforts of this group came the Development Fund. This fund is the means through which A M men contribute to their college, to the state of Texas, and to you personally as an Aggie. It has provided such important projects as the erection of the Memorial Student Center and the Chapel. The Opportunity Awards Scholarship program, campus golf course, faculty achievement awards, and The Gold Star Fund are some of the other important facets of their program for helping Aggies. These accomplishments were not done by a few rich men, but by the thousands of loyal A M former students, and it is to these 31,500 alumni that this AGGIELAND of 1957 is dedicated. DICK HERVEY, Executive Secretary LOUIS BLOODWORTH. President 1956-57

“And what group is this upon the side,” St. Peter asked his aide, “That swelled as if to burst with pride When we our judgement made?” “Why, sir, that’s the Cadet Corps That’s known both far and wide For backing up their fighting team Whether they won or lost or tied.” “Well, then,” said St. Peter, “It’s very plain to me That within the realms of Heaven They should spend eternity. “And have the Texas Aggie hand At once begin to play For their fates too we must decide And the drum major so hearing Slowly raised his hand And said, “Boys, let’s play the Spirit For the last time in Aggieland.” And the band poured forth the anthem In notes both bright and clear And ten thousand Aggie voices Sang the song they hold so dear. And when the band had finished, St. Peter wiped his eyes And said, “It’s not so hard to see They’re meant for Paradise.” And the colonel of the Cadet Corps said As he stiffly took his stand, “It’s just another Corps Trip, boys, We’ll march in behind the band.” Upon this crucial day.” 5
