The spokes that make the wheel go around, the administration, though cursed by many and envied by few, is the staff that is behind the orderly functioning of not only the college but the entire A M system. From the day that you register until the day that you walk across the stage to re¬ ceive your diploma, these men are responsible for the vast process that takes place in your brain called learning. 16

AGRICULTURAL AND MECHANICAL COLLEGE OF TEXAS COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS March 27, 1956 Office of The President To: The Class of ’56 Subject: Congratulations and Best Wishes This year, 1955-56, has been a notable one for the A M College of Texas. Fall registration, with the 9.3 per cent increase over the registration of the preceding fall (higher than the national average), indicated the spirit of the student body and the reputation of the College throughout the state and nation. The superb per¬ formance of our low-rated football team and of the Aggie Band focused the eyes of the nation upon us. Our students in other Fields extended the fame of their College. Even in new undertakings such as the Stu¬ dent Conference on National Affairs (SCONA), success, with letters of praise, has rewarded their efforts. Our teams in minor sports and judging activities have brought home honors and awards, including national and re¬ gional recognition. The student body (both civilian and Corps) has aroused admiration and respect because of its conduct on Corps trips as well as in other contacts with other institutions in the Southwest Conference. Therefore, it is only Fitting that this opportunity be taken to commend the student body as a whole and the various teams and individuals for their contributions to the reputation of their College. This commendation, naturally, is truly a commendation of the Class of 1956 for the leadership which it provided for these achieve¬ ments. Your leadership, loyalty, and devotion to duty should be an inspiration to the Class of 1957 so that your effect on the College should continue even after you have left. From the faculty and staff of the College, I wish to extend to you our best wishes for a happy and successful life. May you carry with you throughout life inose outstanding traits which distinguish an Aggie! Sincerely yours, David H. Morgan President 18
