s.r r, -k j; i i «5- ■ ■ - » Pinky has spent almost his entire life promoting the cause of A M. His spirit, enthusiasm, and untir¬ ing efforts have contributed enor¬ mously toward making A M the great college that it is. He has spoken at countless club meetings and Aggie gatherings. Also, he is known for the many good deeds which he privately performs. Among other things, he collects fruit each year from the students and faculty to send to the patients in the Temple Veterans Hospital. Therefore, we proudly dedicate the 1955 AGGIELAND to P. L. ”Pinky” Downs, Jr., because of these and the many other con¬ tributions which he has made to Aggie life on the campus and else¬ where.

P. L. ' ' Pinky” Downs, Jr., A M’s well-known and respected official greeter, is a descendant of the pioneer Downs family of Temple, Texas. He entered the A M Col¬ lege of Texas in 1902 and, after spending four years here, returned to Temple to work in his uncle’s bank. However, his love for A M soon overcame his desire for a career in banking and he returned to College Station in 1940. At various times since then, he has worked on the campus for the Fiscal Department, the Athletic Department, and the Information and Publications Department. Pinky became a member of the Board of Directors in 1923 and served until 1932.
